Barasa, who was part of the Orange party leaders that graced the Busia event, had taken to social media to welcome the party members and leaders to his county.
“Graced the Busia ODM Linda Ground County Tour led by our Party Leader, Hon. @DrOburu_O, and hosted by Governor @HonOtuoma. ODM delegates and members in Busia expressed unanimous support for pre-2027 election unity talks between ODM and UDA,” Barasa wrote on X.
“Tomorrow, we shift focus to the Kakamega edition, where we will host our party leader and the full ODM leadership for a similar engagement. Karibuni Kakamega, tuko tayari kulinda ground!”

Oburu to stay put
During the Busia event, Oburu vowed to stay put and lead the ODM party after assuming the party leadership from his younger brother, Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Malaba, Busia County, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, Oburu declared his readiness to take the reins of the party affairs as he urged the grassroots leaders to support him in his new role.
The Siaya Senator was unanimously ratified as the new party during the ODM at 20 celebrations held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in Mombasa.
His appointment followed the passing of Raila Odinga on Wednesday, October 2025.
