Former Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson and Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has extended an olive branch to his successor, Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, offering to provide guidance and support if needed.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Nyoro demonstrated a spirit of goodwill toward the new committee chair, emphasizing that leadership is about service and that he harbours no ill feelings towards those who orchestrated his ouster.

“The person who has taken over the Budget and Appropriations Committee chair is also a Kenyan, and I wish them all the best. With the experience I gained while serving in that position for the few years I was there if my successor ever seeks my advice, I will offer it wholeheartedly because I do not want to be selfish,” Nyoro stated.

The outspoken lawmaker stressed the importance of maintaining a positive outlook in politics, urging leaders to let go of resentment.

“Whatever we aspire to do cannot succeed without blessings. That is why I say, bless others, let go of any bitterness, remain free at heart, and focus on working for Kenya in the right manner,” he added.

Nyoro further stated that while he remains respectful to everyone, no one should mistake his humility for fear.

He asserted that his approach to leadership would not change despite the circumstances surrounding his removal.

“Even now as the MP for Kiharu, I will continue to respect people, but let no one mistake my respect for fear. I will continue doing my work, and everyone else should do theirs because, at the end of the day, we all serve the people,” Nyoro remarked.

Replaced with Atandi

Nyoro was removed from the leadership of the powerful committee on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, and replaced with Samuel Atandi who is deputized by Endebess MP Robert Pukose who previously chaired the Health Committee.

Speaking on his removal on Tuesday, March 18 2025, the Kiharu MP expressed bewilderment over his replacement, stating that he had received no prior communication from coalition leaders regarding any issues with his performance.

“I don’t know why I was replaced and I am saying it in good faith,” Nyoro stated.

He highlighted that no leadership figure within the ruling coalition had approached him concerning his work as committee chair.

“No one in the leadership of our coalition from whichever position has ever called me in regard to the position—whether it was about what I needed to do better, what I needed to change, or things that needed to be done differently,” he explained.

Nyoro stated that he, like many Kenyans, learned of his removal through the media.

“I read about myself in the newspapers, the same way you do, in terms of this position. That is the truth,” he emphasized.
