Ndegwa Njiru casts doubt on Ruto’s commitment to Singapore dream
By Joel Masibo, January 20, 2026Advocate Ndegwa Njiru has once again risen against President William Ruto’s dream of dragging Kenya from its present third-world state to match the level of first-world countries in Asia, particularly Singapore.
Based on his X posts on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Njiru argued that the ‘Singapore Dream’ initiator, in this case referring to President Ruto, does not have a strategic plan to implement it, instead using the narrative to settle political scores.
Njiru further challenged Kenyans to realise Ruto’s tricks sooner.

Nothing will be done!
”The person who has made Singapore a topic for discussion in this country doesn‘t intend to even attempt to do anything he has said about it. It is all politricks. The earlier Kenyans realise that the quicker they shall find peace,” Njiru argued.
Ndegwa Njiru’s caution to Kenyans over Ruto’s Singapore dream comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua challenged the Head of State to first fulfil promises under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda before embarking on the Singapore mission.

Speaking during a church service at AIPCA Kiratina in Githunguri Constituency, Kiambu County, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader questioned the President’s focus on international comparisons while domestic promises remain unfulfilled. Gachagua asked Ruto to fix the health sector, among other critical areas, first before going the Singapore route.
“You came and found NHIF working, then you removed it and brought an animal called SHA. Remove that animal and restore NHIF before you tell us about Singapore matters,” Gachagua stated.
On the same, Gachagua accused Ruto of misleading Kenyans, claiming that he had previously deceived them, but insisted that citizens are more enlightened and have now seen through his actions.
Fooling Kenyans
“It is true you are mistaking us for fools because you cheated us. You indeed deceived us. What you don’t know is that we have woken up, we know you, and we are watching you carefully. Don’t tell us that Singapore nonsense,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua demanded that Ruto first fulfil the foundational promises he made to Kenyans before making new ambitious claims about the country’s transformation. “First, deal with the bottom, which you promised before coming here to deceive us the way you deceived us,” the former DP stated.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto rolled out the National Infrastructure Fund on Monday, December 15, 2025, to raise Ksh5 trillion in a bid to move Kenya from third-world to first-world class.
