My votes cannot be stolen – DP Ruto
By George Brian, January 4, 2022Deputy President William Ruto has assured his supporters that his election as Kenya’s next President come August this year will not be rigged by his competitors.
Speaking in Trans Nzoia on Monday, DP Ruto refuted claims that ‘the system and deep state’ will steal his victory in favour of his main rival and Orange Democratic Movement ((ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
According to him, his competitors have sensed defeat in the August elections and have started spreading rumours of rigging his elections if he wins the presidency.
“You heard my competitors claiming that I could not be on the ballot, now that I’m still in the race and they have sensed defeat, they have started claiming that I will win the elections but the system and deep state can’t announce my victory,” Ruto said.
Adding: “If you look at me, do I look like a person whose votes can be stolen? We are ahead of these people (his competitors) in everything.”
The Second-in-Command further claimed that his party – the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) – is ahead of his competitors in everything and will defeat them both in this year’s elections and the succeeding ones.
“We are going to beat them in the coming elections with a big margin. Once we do that, they will claim that we will not win the 2027 general elections but we will still do,” Ruto said.
