Mwengi Mutuse credits Ruto for bringing second liberation to Ukambani
By Luke Oluoch, November 14, 2025Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse has credited President William Ruto for bringing the second liberation to the people of Ukambani.
Speaking while accompanying the president in his tour of Ukambani on Friday, November 14, 2025, Mutuse stated that Ruto had successfully delivered the needs of the people that had remained unfulfilled since independence.
“Our fight for freedom was for our people to benefit from development projects such as the roads you have commissioned today. But for 60 years, it has not been possible. You are the one who has brought to us the second liberation for launching these roads and overseeing their construction,” he added.
The MP went on to implore the residents to rally behind Ruto’s reelection and retain their place with the government of the day in the 2027 polls.

“You know how we voted in 2022 and the other years before. We have been failing all that time, and it is time to make a change and follow that person who has been passing the exam,” he added.
On his part, Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, who recently defected to the government side from Wiper, castigated the opposition for lacking an agenda as he implored the residents to align with the Kenya Kwanza administration under Ruto’s leadership.
“Umekuja hapa ukatatua shida ambazo tumekuwa nazo tangu independence. Mimi nimeangalia kule kwa opposition nikaona hawana agenda, nikaamua siwezi fuata watu ambao hawana akili,” he added.

The MPs’ remarks come amid a sharp division of opinion among the region’s leadership occasioned by Ruto’s tour.
Earlier on, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti put Ruto on the spot over a series of pledges she claims remain unmet to date.

Critical to our people
Ndeti has also called Ruto’s attention to the peaceful and fair compensation and settlement for families affected by the Portland land homes demolitions.
“We hereby bring to your attention the following unmet pledges that are critical to our people’s welfare,” part of her statement read.
