Muturi: We will send Ruto home in 2027, recover stolen public property

By , August 11, 2025

Former Attorney General Justin Muturi has accused President William Ruto of presiding over unprecedented levels of corruption and failing to deliver genuine development for Kenyans.

Speaking on a local radio station on Monday, August 11, 2025, Muturi further said there is a thought plan to send Ruto home in the 2027 general election over graft.

The former AG added that the looting of public resources under Ruto’s administration had reached “extremely high levels” and vowed to ensure the stolen wealth is recovered. He warned that those responsible would be held accountable without hesitation.

“We will take this one to Sugoi, you just wait. But one thing I assure Kenyans is that the stolen public property will be returned without hesitation. The ongoing looting has now reached an extremely high level, and we will not tolerate this blatant theft,” Muturi said.

Muturi, a key figure in the Kenya Kwanza administration before his ouster, claimed his recent dismissal from government was politically motivated, arguing it was meant to silence his criticism.

“By firing me, Ruto has shown that he is involved in all the wrongdoing taking place,” Muturi continued.

Ruto’s development approach

The former National Assembly Speaker also aimed for Ruto’s development approach, accusing him of focusing on superficial projects rather than meaningful economic transformation.

He faulted the President for what he described as “public relations stunts” such as the distribution of motorbikes, saying such initiatives do little to address Kenya’s long-term development needs.

President Ruto gave out varied items to Nairobi youth groups last Saturday, August 9, 2025, at State House in a bid to resolve the youth unemployment crisis in the country.

“Instead of championing real innovation, research, and industrialisation, you’re busy handing out motorbikes. Mr. President, you seem more interested in PR than in genuine transformation,” Muturi remarked.

Muturi further dismissed Ruto’s frequent claims that the Affordable Housing programme is creating jobs for the youth. According to him, the project is a cover for corrupt dealings, especially through inflated tenders for steel and iron sheets awarded to politically connected individuals.

“Every time you’re asked, you repeat that you’ve created jobs for the youth through Affordable Housing, yet we all know this project is just a scheme to enrich yourself and your allies,” he said.

Justin Muturi’s remarks come at a time when the opposition, led by axed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is mobilising the voters against the re-election of President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
