Amani National Congress (AMC) leader Musalia Mudavadi yesterday appealed to his Luhya community to vote for the Kenya Kwanza Coalition in the August 9 General-Election.

Speaking in Vihiga, Mudavadi said the  community is not represented on the Azimio La Umoja coalition negotiation table.

He termed some individuals in the Raila Odinga-led coalition as brokers keen to reap by misleading the community to vote for the movement.

Speaking in Muhudi in Hamisi constituency, Mudavadi said in Azimio, Raila, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are at the negotiating table and the Luhya nation has not been considered despite being the seconf largest voting bloc in the country. He called on the community to vote for Kenya Kwanza where their interests are well represented.

“In Kenya Kwanza we are well-represented and the alliance stands to develop the whole country not only three regions as is the case with our competitors,” said Mudavadi.

At the same time, he hit out at Raila over his promise of reviving Mumias and Nzoia sugar companies, accusing him of using the industries as campaign projects every election period.

“Since the Handshake, why hasn’t he used that position to bring money to the industries? Over Sh200 billion was diverted to Nyanza, why didn’t he bring the money to this region?” posed Mudavadi. Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula asked the community to solidly back Kenya Kwanza to form the next government.

The leaders have pitched tent in the region, popularising the alliance in readiness for the August election.

Speaking at different stop-overs, the leaders hit out at Raila, accusing him of using the community to achieve his political interests.

Addressing large crowds at Mudete, Mbale and Majengo, the leaders said in Azimio, the interests of the region are not represented and urged the residents to remain steadfast in Kenya Kwanza.

Talking on the importance of unity towards the elections, Mudavadi said time had come for the alliance leaders to make sacrifices for the sake of the outfit’s resounding victory in the August polls.

Resounding victory

Mudavadi told the electorate to ask themselves why Uhuru is keen to have the Luhyia community back  Raila while he himself has failed to convince his Mt Kenya comminities to join the Raila brigade.

“We are being cheated and forced to follow Azimio while the President himself has not managed to have his backyard join the outfit. Why is he keen in having us in Azimio and not his community?” he posed.

Mudavadi criticised Uhuru and Raila for taking Luhyias for a ride, especially on matters development.

“During his Sagana Three meeting, the President produced a scorecard for the Central Kenya region. When has he ever had a Kakamega one, two or three to enumerate what he has done for the region?” he asked.
