By , December 27, 2021

Majority of Kenyans have identified Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga as the main contenders in the 2022 presidential elections, according to a survey by research firm Infotrak.

The survey conducted between 17 September and 21 December shows that Kenyans have identified the two – Raila and Ruto – as the frontrunners in the presidential race and now want One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals to dissolve their outfit and join either of the two.

The poll shows that 52% of Kenyans want OKA to dissolve and join either UDA or the Azimio La Umoja side.

Interestingly, 56% of those who want the alliance to dissolve want Mudavadi to be Raila’s running mate in 2022.

Of the four OKA principals – Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya) 44 per cent of Kenyans want Mudavadi to be either Ruto or Raila’s running mate.

Of the 16,00 people interviewed, 19 per cent of the respondents wants Kalonzo Musyoka to be Raila’s running mate for a third time while 11 per cent suggested Moi as 3 per cent expressed confidence in Wetangula.

The poll also revealed that the OKA principals are among the least popular presidential candidates at the moment.

According to the poll, Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka are the most popular candidates in the new-fangled outfit and enjoy only 1% popularity in the country.

The poll comes amid suggestions that Raila is in talks with the OKA principals for a formidable coalition ahead of the elections.
