Moses Kuria reveals his differences with Gachagua
By Arnold Ngure, August 20, 2025Former President William Ruto’s economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has revealed the cause of his differences with Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during a TV interview on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Kuria stated that while he would defend Gachagua’s right to do his politics, he has some reservations.
“I don’t have a problem with Gachagua; I just have major points of departure with him. At this time and age, we cannot conduct politics as we used to in the 90s. Everything has a shelf life and is finite, including raw tribalism and all that,” Kuria said.
Politics of ethnicity
He stated that the politics of ethnicity may have been fashionable at some point in time, but it is fast losing its allure.

“I believe from the bottom of my heart that even I there was a time that I could have been accused of tribalism; granted, but every angel has a past and every sinner has a future. For me, politics that revolves around tribe has no space in this country,” Kuria noted.
Kuria also stated that his other problem with Gachagua is the attempt to funnel the whole region into his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
DCP dictatorship
“The other problem I have with him is how he has come up with the dictatorship in my region to say that if you are not with DCP, then you are with Ruto or whoever; like somebody appointed him to be a prefect,” Kuria said.

“Other than that, I believe that Rigathi Gachagua has the right to practice his politics in the best way he knows how as long as he is not contravening the law.”
Gachagua is expected back in the country on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after cutting short his US trip to come back and focus on the by-elections.
DCP is seen as a strong contender for seats in the Mt Kenya region, where Gachagua says he has managed to unite all its people to vote against Ruto in 2027.
The by-elections are expected to be a litmus test for the new party, where it will gauge its strength ahead of the 2027 polls.
