Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has dismissed reports that there is a tug-of-war between him and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

This comes after some CSs were allocated new offices after a cabinet reshuffle which saw Moses Kuria moved from the Ministry of Trade, with Mudavadi being added a new role to serve as the CS for Foreign Affairs.

Mudavadi, who has been operating from the Kenya Railways Headquarters, was supposed to be moved to the Old Treasury Building along Harambee Avenue which was designated to host the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

In turn, Kuria was designated to move to the Kenya Railways Headquarters, where the Ministry of Public Service would be domiciled.

The swap was reported to have been the genesis of the feud, with the Mudavadi 'refusing' to move to the new location.

In a statement on Friday, October 13, 2023, the Office of the Cabinet Secretary said the office would remain at the current location, amid a memo from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei directing otherwise.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs remains at the Railways Headquarters," Mudavadi's office stated.

Kuria on feud with Mudavadi

Kuria has now dismissed reports that there is a feud between him and Mudavadi, following the Prime Cabinet Secretary's 'defiance'.

"Contrary to media reports today, there is absolutely no tug of war between myself and my senior and close friend Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. The PCS (Prime Cabinet Secretary) will continue operating from Railways Headquarters and myself from Harambee House. Principal Secretary for Performance and Delivery Management Veronicah Nduva will also be based at Harambee House to oversee Government Delivery Services, Performance Contracting, State Corporations Advisory Committee and Inspectorate of State Corporations as per Executive Order Number 1 of 2023," Kusia stated.

Kuria is yet to report to his new Ministry, despite having handed over to his successor at the Ministry of Trade Rebecca Miano.

Speaking to a local publication, Kuria said he is yet to report since Mudavadi was out of the country and CS Aisha Jumwa, initially in charge of Public Service, was unwell.
