Morara Kebaso speaks on supporting either govt or opposition

Political activist Morara Kebaso now says he is neither working with the government nor the opposition.

The politician, who claims to be leading a movement of young people dubbed ‘Not Too Young to Lead’, has termed both the current opposition and government as corrupt.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Kebaso said the current opposition, comprised of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Martha Karua among others, cannot be an alternative of the current regime.

“The Not Too Young To Lead movement seeks to build youth leadership that is based on integrity and efficiency in all levels of government. Any youth from any political party is welcome. As a movement we don’t support the current corrupt government or the corrupt opposition that has fronted itself as a replacement. We seek to build an alternative,” Kebaso said.

This comes weeks after People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua faulted Kebaso after he criticised the membership of the opposition outfit seeking to dislodge President William Ruto from office in 2027.

In an online spat on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Karua accused Kebaso of being used by the government to water down the efforts the young people have put in to unseat Ruto by focusing on non-issues.

“Kasongo ordered the GenZ to be killed in order to remain in power. The focus should be bringing him and his accomplices to account. Any other discussions that deviate from this topic are state sponsored diversion tactics from #bloodparliament,” Karua claimed.

Initially, Kebaso criticised the opposition movement led by Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i among others as lacking purpose.

“Is this what GenZs died for? Is this the future we wanted? So, we are removing Ruto to replace him with a former corrupt tribal deputy president, a former corrupt CS who presided over the killing of Kenyans throwing them in rivers, a former corrupt CS who has held four cabinet positions and never changed anything and a former corrupt fake fertilizer CS who was charged with rape in a court of law. This is unity without vision, unity without purpose,” Kebaso stated.

“I urge all the young people of Kenya to reject this coalition of tumbocrats and projects funded by the guy who stole 6 trillion from this nation. Let all young leaders come together and chart a new path for Kenya. I am ready to sit down with progressive leaders who lack the experience of theft. We will not recycle the problem to solve the problem.”

Other leaders in the opposition outfit include Democratic Action Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, former Agriculture CS Mintika Linturi, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
