Moha Jicho Pevu fiercely defends Uhuru amid renewed political attacks
Nyali Member of Parliament (MP) Mohammed Ali, alias Moha Jicho Pevu, has come out strongly in defence of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta amid renewed political criticism targeting the fourth Head of State.
Speaking during an event on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Moha Jicho Pevu questioned why Uhuru continues to dominate political conversations despite no longer holding any government office.
The lawmaker argued that the retired president is now a private citizen entitled to conduct his personal affairs without constant political attacks.
“Uhuru Kenyatta sio rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya, ni aliyekuwa rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya. Uhuru Kenyatta sio amiri jeshi wa majeshi yote nchini Kenya. Uhuru Kenyatta sio gavana. Uhuru Kenyatta hayuko kwenye wadhifa wowote wa serikali katika nchi hii,” he said.
The MP questioned why some leaders continue mentioning Uhuru in nearly every political debate.
“Ni kwanini kila siku mkiamka ni Uhuru Kenyatta? Mchana, Uhuru Kenyatta, jioni Uhuru Kenyatta, ukienda kulala, Uhuru Kenyatta,” he stated.
The legislator further urged government leaders to focus on delivering services rather than blaming the fourth president for current political and economic challenges.
“Kama kazi imewashinda fungeni virago muende nyumbani. Hii Kenya ni ya kila mtu,” he said.
According to Moha, Uhuru has every right to travel, interact with leaders, and conduct business activities like any other Kenyan citizen.
“Uhuru yuko nyumbani anafanya biashara zake. Ati Uhuru akiongea na watu kidogo awasalimie, ni shida,” he remarked.

Warning against tribal politics
The outspoken MP also accused United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar of attempting to incite ethnic tensions by targeting Uhuru and the Mt Kenya community.
He warned against what he termed ‘dangerous political narratives’ that could revive divisions similar to those witnessed during the 2007-2008 post-election violence period.
“Kwa hivo hizi fitina ambazo mnajaribu, you are trying to set up all the tribes against one tribe, na hiyo kitu hiyo mliifanya wakati wa post-election violence (2007-2008), mkafanya wakenya wengi wauliwe. Wewe Hassan Omar tunakujua,” he said.
Hassan Omar dragged into ICC cases
Moha Jicho Pevu also accused Omar of hypocrisy over past political positions related to the International Criminal Court (ICC) cases involving Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto.
“Wewe Hassan Omar tunakujua. Wewe ndiye ulipeleka Uhuru na William Ruto kwa mahakama ya jinai ICC,” he claimed.
The MP further criticised renewed debates surrounding Uhuru’s wealth and land ownership, saying those raising such concerns were engaging in unnecessary political attacks.
“Alafu sasa unakuja kusema hapa ati Uhuru, shamba, sijui nini. Wewe kama ulilala hukununua shamba, wale walinunua walinunua,” he said.

Omar clarifies his remarks
Moha Jicho Pevu’s remarks come hours after Omar clarified his recent remarks, which drew debate, saying that he was misinterpreted and taken out of context.
In a statement by the Office of the UDA Secretary General on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Omar explained that his comments were not intended to demean, offend, or target any community.
“Following the remarks I made recently, which since appear to have been misinterpreted and taken out of context, I wish to clarify as follows: My comments were never intended to demean, offend, or target any community,” the statement read in part.
“Nevertheless, I fully appreciate that some of our brothers and sisters, particularly from the Central Kenya region, may have felt aggrieved by the remarks. To all those who may have been offended, I sincerely regret the misunderstanding and extend my apology.”
