Millie Odhiambo questions Murkomen’s silence on Osotsi attack
By Mabonga Makhanu, April 9, 2026Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has questioned the silence of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen following the brutal attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
In a statement shared on her social media pages on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the outspoken lawyer has called upon CS Murkomen to take immediate action, stressing that his silence as the CS for Interior and National Coordination is worrying. According to her, Murkomen is often quick to respond to security matters, making his current inaction on the Osotsi attack even more concerning.

“I am calling on CS Murkomen to act on the attack on Senator Osotsi. Your silence as the CS interior and national coordination is worrying. You are often quick to react. Why the deafening silence?
Ososti’s attack
This comes a day after the senator was brutally attacked while in Kisumu.
According to Derick Luvega, Director of Communication at the Vihiga Senate Office, Osotsi had made a routine visit to the Acacia area to get a haircut before proceeding to the Java restaurant, where he met a friend and also interacted with members of the public.

Shortly after, a group of gun-wielding individuals is said to have confronted him, questioning him over his political allegiance.
Owing to his support for the ‘one-term’ movement as an affiliate of the Linda Mwananchi faction, the goons reportedly assaulted the senator.
Luvega indicated that Osotsi’s security detail exercised restraint to avoid discharging firearms in public and hurting innocent lives in the process.
“We strongly condemn this barbaric and cowardly act, which appears to have been premeditated and orchestrated,” the statement read in part.
“It is important to emphasise that this isolated incident should not, in any way, be used to tarnish the image of the people of Kisumu, who have consistently demonstrated warmth and hospitality, as evidenced by the Senator’s free movement and interactions prior to the attack.”
Leaders condemning Osotsi’s attack

The united opposition team has come out to condemn the attack on Osotsi, saying that it’s a govt’s way of silencing dissent.
Edwin Sifuna, who is his Linda Mwananchi team leader has come out to state that the people who attacked osotsi have being identified by the locals and wants them apprehended.
