Migori Women Rep to Ruto: Prepare for strong support from Nyanza in 2027

By , September 6, 2025

Migori Women representative Fatuma Mohammed has assured President William Ruto of getting overwhelming support from the Nyanza region, dismissing the notion that the region takes their democratic responsibility lightly.

Speaking during the empowerment forum in Kesses County on Saturday, September 5, 2025, Fatuma, commonly known by her Full Network moniker, stated that votes from the region had been suppressed in the past, but the time had come for the true revealing of the region’s voting bloc.

“There is no contest coming ahead. Baba has already decided the elections. You are always told that in Nyanza, we never vote. Our votes have been suppressed, but this time I ask the president to watch and count the votes that will come from Nyanza. You will know there are votes in Nyanza,” she stated.

The lawmaker also backed the northeastern region to join the support of the president following the revocation of the vetting exercise for people seeking ID cards in the arid region.

“We have been told we are few. We, the people of the Northeastern, have been told that we are few. You have opened the frontiers and allowed us to get IDs, now watch the space. We will vote for you to the last person, and you will be reelected,” she added.

Her sentiments come after Ruto received overwhelming support and assurances over his reelection from a section of Nyanza region leaders led by CSs John Mbadi (Treasury) and his Energy counterpart, Opiyo Wandayi, on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The assurances came as Ruto joined the leaders and MPs at a church event in Alego Usonga, in Siaya County, a region considered the political bedrock of Raila Odinga.

Keep working

“You have earned the friendship of this county, as you have demonstrated you care and you don’t want to see this region lag behind. I have worked with you for one year now, and I know your government is one of inclusivity. What is happening in Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, and Homabay is also happening in other parts of the country,” Mbadi told Ruto.

The former minority leader of the national assembly further urged the president to stay put and continue his agenda, stating that his critics will be in for a rude shock.

“Those who read social media and sit in a corner to talk about one term: you will be shocked. The talk is an illusion. You’re going to get your second term. What you need to do is to focus and continue with the work you are doing for Kenyans,” he added.
