MDG party begins member registration

The Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party has embarked on intense grassroots mobilisation and listing of new members to solidify its support base.

According to the MDG Party leader David Ochieng who is also the Ugenya MP, the party wants to work hard to promote internal democracy. philosophy.

“This means the introduction of grassroots democracy, with the emphasis on giving power to ordinary members rather than party leaders or elites,’’ he said.

The party will also open branch offices across the country to coordinate its activities at the grassroots levels to make its local presence felt on a daily basis, when they recruit and interact with diverse mix of voters to woe them to join MDG.

Under the rubric of “reshaping the MDG party–mass relations with the people,” the party is keen to penetrate deep into all communities where the masses reside.

MDG aims to create ‘new politics with a commitment to participatory democracy and rejection of traditional party politics that have been in place for eons.

The concept of grassroots democracy, first of all, Ochieng said, means a rejection of old traditional party politics, and to give new power to the ‘grassroots leaders.’’

In the last one week, the party top brass officials have been crisscrossing Nyanza in a fresh bid to market and popularise its new policies to the people.
