Meru Ward Reps will this morning lay bare their accusations against embattled Governor Kawira Mwangaza at the Senate Plenary.

People Daily established that Meru political leadership wants Kawira to be impeached with Kenya Kwanza senators aligning on one side and Azimio luminaries on the other.

Compounding Kawira’s issues is the fact that some Azimio rebels like Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Abdul Haji (Garissa) and Joseph Githuku (Lamu) are leaning towards Kenya Kwanza, a move that will deny the Opposition a chance to save Kawira.

“We have told President William Ruto not to interfere with the politics of Meru. If he will shield her, then our members of the National Assembly will also not support his issues. He has no choice,” said the source.
Marsabit Senator Mohamed Chute (UDA) said the lawmakers will look at the merits of the case levelled against her before voting to send her home or dismiss the allegations.

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo (Wiper), while rallying his colleagues to listen to the merits and demerits of the case, maintained that the charges leveled against the Kawira do not meet the threshold of impeachment.

The MCAs lead Counsel Muthomi Thiankolu and Marias Maranya will seek to convince senators why the beleaguered governor should be shown the door. On the other hand, Kawira has listed a battery of lawyers to defend her impeachment motion.
