Mbeere South MP Nebart Muriuki detailed how President William Ruto can easily win the hearts of the electorate in the region ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the MP indicated that the formula lies in releasing additional funding for the Kamburu Dam-Kiritiri water project.

Ukifanya hivyo, ukikuja Mbeere kuomba kura, hakuna mtu atakuuliza,” Muriuki stated.

The MP said the only obstacle delaying its completion is a shortage of funds.

Muriuki spoke to Ruto on Sunday, July 5, 2026, during a church service at Full Gospel Gatunduri Church in Embu, where he said the project was initially expected to be completed in June, having been designed as a two-year programme.

“Tunachaguana ndio tufanyiwe kazi. H.E., shida ya Mbeere South ni maji. Governor akija uko anaambiwa maji. Kila mtu akienda uko ni maji. All other presidents H.E. hawakuweza kuanzisha mradi wa maji. Isipokuwa wewe, Your Excellency,” Muriuki said.

He added that he had earlier briefed the President about the progress of the project during a meeting at State House.

Your Excellency, tulipokuwa State House nilikwambia ya kwamba mradi wa maji ya Kiritiri to Kamburu Dam unaendelea vizuri. Huo mradi ulikuwa uzinduliwe hii mwezi wa June kwa sababu ilikuwa a two-year project,” he said.

Muriuki said Ruto had promised to allocate more money to the project, but the funds had not yet been released.

“Your Excellency, ulisema niongezewe pesa, lakini hilo jambo halijafanyika. Najua utaniangalia hapo ndio huo mradi tu commission October mwaka huu. Tuongeze tu hii miezi nne,” he appealed.

The legislator said completing the water project before October would significantly improve access to water in Mbeere South.

Development projects

Besides the water project, the Mbeere South MP praised the Kenya Kwanza administration for ongoing irrigation initiatives in the constituency, saying they would boost agricultural production.

He also welcomed progress on key road infrastructure, including the tarmacking of the Kiritiri-Mayori-Igumori-Kiambere-Mutuobare road.

The road project is currently underway, with engineers, heavy machinery and casual workers already on site undertaking construction works.

The combination of the water project, irrigation programme and road upgrades is expected to improve transport, agricultural productivity and access to essential services across Mbeere South once completed.
