Manyora: If Gachagua’s 45-day political isolation yields nothing, he will be declared irrelevant

Political analyst Herman Manyora has warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that should his 45-day political conclave in Wamunyoro fail to yield any results, he will be declared irrelevant by the people of Kenya.

While speaking during his daily analysis on his YouTube channel on Friday, July 3, 2026, he added that time will render the Democracy for Citizens leader irrelevant if he does not give Kenyans what he promised them, which was a united opposition flag bearer at the advent of his conclave.

“Woe unto Gachagua if he does not come out of the 45-day conclave with something; he will be declared politically irrelevant. Time is going to declare Gachagua irrelevant.”

He further argued that both the United Opposition and Linda Mwananchi officials would also be declared irrelevant if they failed to announce the flag bearer early enough.

According to the communication professor, Kenyans, especially those who want Ruto out in 2027, will now take the mantle and announce their own leader who will lead them into the 2027 election.

He also argued that the opposition has until August to name their flagbearer or be thrown into political oblivion.

This comes at a time when Gachagua is on day 17 of his 45-day political conclave, which he began on Monday, June 16, 2026, after the completion of the Western Kenya United Opposition tour.

The 45-day retreat, which, in his usual political gimmicks, he compared to the G7 Summit recently held in France, labelling his conclave as G45, saw him retreat to his Wamunyoro rural residence, which also serves as his political command centre, to engage several leaders and aspirants from Mount Kenya and beyond on the United Opposition’s direction and unity.

During the 45 days, he is expected to get views on who becomes the United Opposition flag bearer ahead of 2027. In the 45-day seclusion period, Gachagua stated that he will not attend any rally.

So far, the DCP leader has engaged several groups, with his meeting with Safina Party leader Jimmy Wanjigi, who paid a courtesy call on him, being one of the most high-profile visits.
