Malala warns Murkomen, Sudi and Kuria as UDA infightings escalate
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has fired a warning to a section of leaders drawn from the party over their recent conduct.
The President William Ruto-led party through Secretary General Cleophas Malala has warned Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba, her Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi, and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
UDA indiscipline
Malala, in a press statement issued on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, said the ruling UDA party was concerned with the recent behaviours of the mentioned elected leaders. 
"I have been deeply concerned by reports of indiscipline amongst a section of elected leaders within our party, UDA. My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership," Malala's statement reads in part.
"I specifically address recent public sentiments and actions of Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni wa Muchomba, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga."
UDA disciplinary action
Malala warned the leaders that the party would take disciplinary action against them should they fail to change their behaviour.
Malala's warning did not spare Cabinet Secretaries in President Ruto's government.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Roads and Infrastructure CS Kipchumba Murkomen found themselves in the mix.
Resign
The Cabinet Secretaries have been warned against engaging in active politics. Murkomen and Kuria have been told to either focus on their ministries or resign and go back to politics.
"Additionally, it has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical. Hon Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign," the statement reads.
Recently, there has been a rift within the UDA party pitting the top leadership and a section of the members.
Oscar Sudi over the weekend faced off with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who warned him against meddling in the affairs of other constituencies.
Sudi fired back warning that he was not the type of person that could be threatened.
Moses Kuria on the other hand has been commenting on Mount Kenya politics and making social media statements that seem to undermine DP Gachagua who is the UDA Deputy Party leader.
Wamuchomba has been defying the UDA party, and chosen to work with the opposition.
Recently, she was at a meeting dubbed Limuru III that was convened by Mount Kenya leaders allied with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
