‘Kua na roho ya utu’ – Malala urges Ruto to block DP Gachagua’s impeachment
Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has implored President William Ruto to block alleged plans to impeach his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Addressing a section of residents in Kiambu County on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Malala noted that the party leaders approve all impeachment motions. As such, the president had the power to block the DP’s ouster.
He faulted Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung’wah and Embu Governor Cecile Mbarire for being the wheels behind the DP’s woes.
Malala particularly recounted that during his tenure as UDA’s SG, the two leaders approached him pushing for Gachagua’s ouster, however, he disengaged in their plans and refused to sign the motion due to the impact the DP had brought to the party.
He noted that Gachagua contributed tremendously to the win of the Kenya Kwanza government with his high votes from the vote-rich Mount Kenya region, therefore the battles aimed at him were very unfair.
