Malala lashes out at ODM officials, accuses them of betraying Raila’s values
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, January 20, 2026Democracy for the Citizens Party Deputy party leader and former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has called out a section of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for betraying the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Cleophas Malala singled out Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga as leading the team that is auctioning ODM to President William Ruto.
“The Late Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, was betrayed by Junet Mohammed and Gladys Wanga. All the values he embodied have been auctioned to the highest bidder for a few pieces of silver,” Malala stated.
Malala has gone ahead to castigate Junet for betraying Raila’s family by making his children ill-treated at a party that was founded by their father.
DCP is consulting with some members in ODM
In his statement, Malala has also hinted at the possibility of working with several members of the ODM party, including Embakasi East Legislator Babu Owino and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna. Further, he added that unless the ODM Party ceases to work with William Ruto and drumming support for his reelection, there would be no possibility of the DCP party working with ODM
Ruto should compensate Gen Z deaths
Malala has expressed his displeasure with joining UDA, saying that unless Ruto compensates the youths who died during the Gen Z protests, he can never join the party.
“There are some of the things that the UDA has committed that are irreversible. Life is sacred, and we cannot run around this country saying two-term, yet we had children who died during the Gen Z protests”
