Malala decries influx of outsider politicians in Malava ahead of by-elections

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala has decried the influx of politicians from distant regions wishing to influence the upcoming by-elections in Malava Constituency.

Speaking on Saturday, August 9, 2025, during a campaign tour for UDA candidates in Kisa East, Malala appealed to the constituents to rally behind the party’s candidates over those being fronted by outsiders.

He particularly called out influential figures within President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance brigade, such as the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, and the president’s aide, Farouk Kibet.

He warned about listening to such figures whose presence in the region is solely due to the interest in the position left vacant by the late Malulu Injendi.

“We have a person called Farouk Kibet who comes all the way from the Rift Valley. He should go back to his home and decide the affairs of the people there,” he stated.

“We also have another coming from Mudete in Maragoli named Musalia Mudavadi coming all the way from Maragoli to come and decide for us our leaders here. Will you listen to a person from Mudete or me as your son?” He posed.

“You know if you vote for a UDA aspirant, you’re voting for Ruto. He has said he is coming to win this seat, but we will show him that here in Malava we do not recognise him,” he said.

Malala parted by imploring the residents to come out and elect their Democracy For Citizens party candidate after the Independent Boundary Commission announced the date for the by-elections.

“We are fully capable. I urge you to wake up early and go vote for Edgar. The IEBC has set the date for the Malava by-elections on November 27, so lets us all turn in that day and go vote for Edgar. Will you remember the name?” he urged.
