Court to rule on Linturi’s academic credentials for IEBC clearance
By evans.maritim, June 2, 2022United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Meru gubernatorial candidate Mithika Linturi will know his fate on Friday, June 3 when High Court in Meru will rule on whether he qualifies to run for the seat.
A petitioner questioned the credibility of his academic certificates on Wednesday, prompting the current Meru Senator to move to court.

Linturi’s lawyer asked the court on Thursday whether it has a jurisdiction to hear the case when Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has a dispute tribunal that can hear the matter once the senator presents his academic papers on Saturday, June 4 for clearance.
“The court has heard our appeal and will give a ruling tomorrow in respect to the jurisdiction. In our appeal, we are saying this is a metter that should be handled by the IEBC and not the court at this stage,” the lawyer said.
Linturi’s running mate

Linturi’s running mate designate Linda Kiome said the petitioner has malicious intentions to lock the duo out of the August 9 general election.
“We are not going to be fearful. We are going to move forward. We had a good representation in court and I am confident we are not going to be left out of the ballot papers,” she said.
Linturi is set to face off with the current Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi in a race that is expected to be tight if the latest opinion polls are anything to go by.
