Lesuuda appeals to Moi for clarity following State House meeting with Ruto
By Luke Oluoch, October 10, 2025Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda has come out to appeal to KANU National Chairman, Gideon Moi, for clarity and communication following his Thursday, October 9, 2025, meeting with President William Ruto.
In a statement on her X page on Thursday, October 9, 2025, the KANU MP appealed to her chairman to also address his supporters on his decision not to run.
Lesuuda, while maintaining that Moi reserves the right to choose his political friends, implored him to at least make his position public and offer directions to the members.

“Who you choose to work with in the national politics moving forward is purely your personal decision. My only concern, and that of many who have believed in you and the party, is your choice not to give direction and not to communicate in time of your decisions. We feel not listened to, not heard, or felt. Especially the felt part, chairman address your supporters of your decision, lead with empathy, carry us along,” he pleaded.
The legislator, however, defended Moi’s decision to opt out of the upcoming Baringo by-elections, stressing that his decision must have come after moments of reflection.
Personal choice
“The choice to run or not to run for the Baringo Senatorial seat is purely your personal decision since you must have done an introspection of whether to or not, despite the many voices you have listened to,” she added.
Her sentiments come after the politician was pictured meeting with Ruto at State House on Thursday, October 9, 2025, the same day thousands of Baringo residents who support KANU waited for him to land at the Kabarnet Airstrip so they could accompany him to the IEBC offices for clearance to contest.

The Moi-Ruto meeting
In the photos, Moi was seen sharing a light moment with the president as they walked towards the meeting area, where they were joined by a section of other leaders from Baringo County.
The president proceeded to preside over a meeting with the delegation from Baringo.
This came amid speculations that he had withdrawn from the Baringo senatorial race, as he was expected to appear at the IEBC nomination offices between 11 am and 2 pm.
Almost seven hours after the meeting at State House, there has been no official statement from the late president’s son over his meeting with Ruto or if at all he has abandoned his candidacy for the senatorial seat.
His party, KANU, has also not issued any communication at the time of this publication.
