Kiunjuri now claims TSP not privy to details of Kenya Kwanza MoU

The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has accused Deputy President William Ruto of withholding certain details of the Kenya Kwanza coalition agreement.

Speaking at a rally in Tharaka Nithi on Saturday, June 11, 2022, the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary asked the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader to reveal contents of the document submitted to the Office of Registrar of Political Parties.

Kiunjuri said he is, particularly, concerned about what the Mount Kenya region will get under the Kenya Kwanza government.

Revealing the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the politician said, will help residents from the vote-rich region to make an informed decision ahead of the August polls.

Kiunjuri, who has been blowing hot and cold regarding support for Ruto, noted that residents should not vote for the DP or Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga blindly.

“As TSP we still have our draft document, Tujibebe has also not submitted theirs. Can those in the UDA party tell us what they deposited at the Registrar of Political Parties?

“…We want to know what is in store for us. We refuse to be reduced to mere voting machines,” he said to cheers from the crowd.

Kiunjuri joins Kenya Kwanza

TSP is among several parties that signed an agreement to join the Kenya Kwanza coalition on April 12, 2022.

‘’ We as TSP family are happy to join you today. We came here because we have a purpose. When we look through Kenya Kwanza, and we have been following closely the activities of the coalition, we believe we are in the right formation,’’ Kiunjuri said then.

Other parties that joined Kenya Kwanza alongside TSP are Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi, William Kabogo’s Tujibebe Wakenya Party, The Farmers Party led by Irungu Nyakera and The Communist Party of Kenya.
