Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has trashed the Finance Bill 2024 that is set to be tabled in Parliament for debate on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Through his official X account on Monday, June 17, 2024, Kioni stated that the Members of Parliament (MPs) supporting the bill want to kill Kenyans, by killing their ability to work, learn, grow food, be healthy, and provide for their children.

"Ruto MPs want to kill us. Kill our ability to work. Kill our ability to learn. Kill our ability to grow food. Kill our ability to be healthy. Kill our ability to provide for our children," Kioni stated.

Kioni on picketing

Kioni further supported the plan by a section of Kenyans to protest outside Parliament as MPs debate the Finance Bill 2024.

Kioni says Kenyans shall not succumb to fear, oppression and neo-colonialism.

"We are not just 43 tribes. We are Kenyans. We are the embodiment of the Kenyan spirit. We will not succumb to the fear, oppression and neo-colonialism of the Americans. We do not fight with guns. We fight with the pen, with prayer and with picketing. Our conviction is resolute," Kioni posted.

"For the Ruto naysayers, rest assured, the echoes of our actions will reverberate through eternity. Our legacy will be that we never yielded to your economic slavery. Kenyans will prevail," he added.

Activists have been gearing up for the Tuesday protests in Nairobi’s Central Business District to oppose the proposed Finance Bill, 2024.

Occupy Parliament protests

The protest dubbed Occupy Parliament is expected to coincide with the tabling of the Bill in the House.

One of the organisers, Boniface Mwangi, said Kenyans from every part of the country would convene in various parts of the city before marching to Parliament.

Mwangi via his social media handles named the venues as Ambassadeur/Archives, Nation Centre, Supreme Court, Skate Park, Taifa Road, Kencom Stage and City Hall Way.

However, there have been fears among the Kenyan authorities that the planned protests may block the MPs from accessing the National Assembly.

Police said there will be deployment of anti-riot teams to curb the protests.
