Patrick Musimba, who contested for the Makueni governor seat in the just concluded August 9 General Election, has moved to court challenging Mutula Kilonzo Junior’s win.

Musimba, who vied as an independent candidate, through his lawyer wants the election of governor Kilonzo nullified citing unfairness in the whole election process.

The disgruntled petitioner did not congratulate or criticize governor Mutula Junior’s win until now when he filed a case challenging his win.

The Makueni governor took to his Facebook page and made fun of the court papers served to him by Musimba’s lawyer challenging his win.

” Pili piki ponki, paka mielo Disco” Mutula Jnr captioned the court papers.

Kilonzo was declared the winner in the Makueni gubernatorial race after garnering 214,088 votes against Musimba who managed 63,252 votes.

He was sworn in as the second governor of Makueni county on August 25, 2022.

Mutula served as Makueni senator for two terms before he decided to vie for governor.

Musimba was the Kibwezi West Member of Parliament for two terms and was elected as an independent candidate for another two terms.
