‘Kenyans do not have confidence in Ruto’s administration’ – Kioni
By Mary Ouko, November 9, 2023
Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has weighed in on President William Ruto’s governance.
Speaking to a local TV station on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Kioni noted that Kenyans and foreigners do not have confidence in Ruto’s system of governance.
The former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament (MP) also noted that he was hopeful that Ruto would explain to Kenyans how he would restore confidence in his administration during his State of the Nation Address.
“When we see two CSs at the airport having two briefing sessions on the same problem, there is confusion, it doesn’t help in building confidence. When we see a CS writing to us the names of people we should not have confidence in, it shows there is confusion in government. It’s a system that is not working. The impeachment of Kawira it does not help us, all these things are indicators of people who are not clear on where we want to go next.
“Confidence is very important, Kenyans do not have confidence and even investors do not have confidence in this system of governance. I hope William will be able to address that today,” he stated.
At the same time, Kioni added that it was important for political parties to have stability in order to spur the country’s growth.
“Stability within the political sphere is crucial, our confidence with the people who are in parliament and the senate is a minimum. The people in the regime are dismantling Jubilee and ODM. They are confusing MPs in Parliament,” Kioni added.
Kioni’s remarks come ahead of Ruto’s address today afternoon.
The address which will mark his first since he got into office, will be held at Parliament buildings.
During his address, Ruto will face a joint Parliamentary sitting of both the National Assembly and the Senate.
