Chama Cha Uzalendo Secretary General Phillipe Sadja has claimed the Wiper Party’s candidate in the Machakos senatorial by-election Agnes Kavindu Muthama does not have the academic qualifications to run for the seat.

Sadja said records obtained from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission showed that Kavindu did not have secondary school education qualifications.

According to documents from the IEBC which have been circulating on social media, Kavindu indicated Not applicable (N/A) in the secondary school section while she indicated that she had a degree certificate from WEB College which she obtained in 2010.

“The Constitution and the elections Act require a minimum of a post secondary qualification for one to be cleared to vie for the Senate. We demand to know how IEBC cleared someone who doesn’t have a secondary school certificate, let alone a post secondary qualification required by law? “ he posed.

Speaking to the press in Machakos yesterday, Sadja called on the electoral body to revoke her candidature or face a legal suit.

Kavindu was cleared to vie for Machakos Woman Rep seat in the 2017 General Election. She contested the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket and emerged third.
