By , November 24, 2025

Political activist Kasmuel McOure has dismissed claims of seeking the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League presidency along tribal lines.

Kamsmuel McOure’s cry comes shortly after ODM clarified the current status of its Youth League top leadership, maintaining that John Ketorah remains its president amid rumoured changes in leadership. Taking to X on Saturday, November 15, 2025, ODM Party warned against misleading information on the matter as the party marks its 20th anniversary.

”President of the ODM Youth League is Hon. @JohnmarkKetorah. Ignore any publication circulating containing misleading information on the same,” the ODM statement read.

”Those attempting to discourage my aspiration to lead the ODM Youth League on the flippantly flimsy claim that I cannot serve because I am Luo must understand this clearly. I am not seeking any position in the ODM on the basis of tribe. I am a delegate and a young democrat in this party, and our party constitution does not countenance the election of officials on ethnic grounds,” McOure said.

”My commitment to ODM is unquestionable, and my ethnicity shall not be used as a ceiling to determine what I can or cannot do. We all agree that the Youth League must be led by young people who understand the ethos of the ODM Party and who are passionate about our collective struggle,” he added.

Awaiting guidance

The youthful activist said he remains a student of life and will not entertain arguments rooted in ignorance or bad faith, awaiting formal guidance from the party regarding the next steps for our Youth League.

”Let it be known that tribalism will not be smuggled into our structures through the schemes of those who have grown accustomed to old, tired, tokenistic politics. The Secretary for Youth Affairs in ODM is not a tribal chief. It is a unifying voice, an organiser, and a champion for the youth agenda. We shall present and support the best leaders for this council, regardless of their community. That is the spirit of ODM, and that is the future we are building as we march toward ODM at 50 and beyond.” He stated.

Meanwhile, Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA), Robert Alai, has formally protested the installation of John Ketorah as the ODM Youth League President for being overage.
