‘Kama makosa ya IEBC haiwezi rekebishwa Wakenya wasipige kura’ – Raila

By , March 12, 2023

Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya supremo Raila Odinga has stated that there is no need for Kenyans to cast their votes in future

Speaking during a meeting with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) delegates in Mombasa on Sunday, March 12, 2023, Raila insisted that the elections were marred with irregularities and twisted in favour of President William Ruto.

He specifically took a swipe at former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati for sidelining other commissioners during the final tallying and announcement of results.

He claims that Chebukati went against the law by announcing the results without the backing of his fellow commissioners.

Chebukati alienda pekee yake kusoma matokeo na hii tume ilkua na wanachama saba, wanne walisema la watatu wakasema ndio, je hiik matokeo inakubalika?” he posed.

He also reiterated the need to be granted access to the IEBC servers so as to shed more light on what happened on the day results were announced.

“Kulikua na servers nne, moja ilkua huko uholanzi, pili huko Venezuela, tatu ilkua huko Anniversary towers kkao kikuu cha IEBC, ya nne Industrial ara huko Nairobi kule bomas kuna nyungu walikua wanarushia hio,” he added.

The former premier underscored that there was no point in having elections if the results would be twisted in favour of a particular candidate.

“Ikiwa kama hii makosa haiwezi rekebishwa basi wakenya wasipige kura, sisi sio wazimu, yale ambayo tunasema tunaeza dhibitisha kisayansi,” he added.

He further affirmed that since Ruto has refused to abide by the demands they had issued, the protests will continue. He defended that everyone had a right to protest, and he also announced that they will be marching to Nairobi to protest against Ruto’s regime.

“Tarehe ishirini ya mwezi huu tunataka wakenya wamiminike kule Nairobi,” he added.
