Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has boldly declared that the outcome of the 2027 general elections is already sealed, ruling out any possibility of a comeback by the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders.

In a statement shared on Thursday, May 22, 2025, through his X account, Kaluma expressed confidence that the coalition backing President William Ruto would sweep the upcoming elections.

He claimed that a united front comprising regions such as Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Coast, and Nairobi would deliver a landslide victory.

“Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Coast, and Nairobi will vote together in 2027. These regions have over 270 Members of Parliament and over 35 Senators,” Kaluma wrote.

Adding;

“The disorganised, divided, and tribal team of impeached Gachagua, Vice President Kalonzo, Matiangi, and DAPK presidential candidate Salasya has zero chance in the immediate contest. The 2027 elections are done!”

The outspoken MP has recently intensified his criticism of Rigathi Gachagua. On Friday, May 16, Kaluma dismissed any hopes Gachagua had of returning to public office.

In another post on X, Kaluma argued that Gachagua’s removal by Parliament constitutionally disqualifies him from holding any public position, elective or appointive.

He dismissed Gachagua’s attempts to remain politically relevant as a waste of time.

Kaluma, a staunch supporter of President Ruto and a vocal advocate for the broad-based government, urged his followers to spread the message widely. He called on them to repost his remarks until Gachagua and his allies receive them, warning that he is watching closely.

“Having been impeached by Parliament, Gachagua will never hold public office, whether elective or appointive, period. His active engagement in public is all drama and vanity. He is leading his headless flock to nowhere. Repost until it reaches Gachagua and his headless flock, and I will follow you, pap!” Kaluma remarked.

Kaluma’s blistering attack on Gachagua comes as the country’s political landscape is shifting, with seasoned politicians realigning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Rebranding

On May 15, 2025, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), with the slogan “Skiza Wakenya” (Listen to Kenyans), symbolising inclusivity and grassroots focus.

The party’s leadership includes Cleophas Malala, David Mingati, Mithika Linturi, Cate Waruguru, and Peter Mwathi. Gachagua announced plans to field candidates for all elective positions, including the presidency.

Meanwhile, Martha Karua rebranded Narc Kenya into the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) and is rallying the opposition, declaring her 2027 presidential bid with a focus on a woman-led government.

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party, has also confirmed his presidential ambitions and is working to unite opposition leaders.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga joined the race, launching town hall meetings to share his vision.
