Kaluma: Broad-based govt to deploy full resources behind Boyd Were’s bid
By Kiprono Keileb, September 25, 2025Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has announced that the Broad-Based Government (BBG) will deploy all its political resources to ensure victory for Boyd Were in the Kasipul parliamentary by-election.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Kaluma congratulated Were on clinching the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, saying his nomination was a proud moment for the constituency and the party.
“Congratulations, Boyd Were, on your nomination as the ODM party candidate for the position of Member of Parliament for Kasipul Constituency! Your late father is very proud of you and the family he left behind,” Kaluma said.

The MP thanked the Kasipul residents for conducting a peaceful nomination process, which he said demonstrated the constituency’s commitment to democracy and strengthened the image of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“Let me also thank the people of Kasipul Constituency for the peaceful, free, fair and transparent nomination. You’ve made the ODM party and our party leader, Raila Odinga, proud!” he stated.

Broad-based government to deploy full resources behind Boyd Were’s Kasipul bid. Kaluma further declared that Were’s candidature would not only be an ODM affair but would receive full backing from the broad-based government.

“As the candidate of the mighty broad-based government, this is as good as the election itself. The broad-based government won’t spare any political arsenal to win all the by-elections!” Kaluma added.
He called on Kasipul residents and Kenyans at large to rally behind BBG candidates, stressing the need for unity ahead of the mini-polls.
Kaluma’s call comes after TIFA’s latest survey revealed that the support for broad-based government had increased.
“Let’s now unite as a people and support all BBG Candidates across Kenya. Mbele Pamoja,” he wrote.
Were’s nomination sets the stage for an intense political contest in Kasipul, with Kaluma’s pledge signalling BBG’s determination to influence the outcome of the race.
