By Lutta Njomo, June 26, 2024
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has deployed Azimio members to visit the families of injured protesters and those killed as a result of police brutality.
Addressing the media, Kalonzo announced that Azimio leaders will visit the victims of police brutality in the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and various parts of the country.
He added that Azimio members would help by donating blood and helping where needed by medical officers attending to those injured during the protests.
“This brigade proceeds to Kenyatta National Hospital and other areas in order to condole and support the families and the communities of the affected,” Kalonzo stated.
“If there is some blood donation required, this Members of Parliament and other well-wishers will support,” he added.

Not too late for Ruto
According to Kalonzo, President William Ruto still has the power to withdraw the contentious Finance Bill and send it back to the Parliament.
Kalonzo argued that refusing to assent to the Bill would save the country from total shutdown.
“It is not too late for Ruto to pull the country back from the brink by declining this oppressive Finance Bill and sending it back to Parliament for withdrawal as demanded by Kenyans,” Kalonzo affirmed.
KDF deployment
The former Vice President also faltered Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale for gazetting military deployment without Parliamentary approval.
Azimio called out Duale for blatant disregard of the constitution.
“The CS for Defence issued a gazette notice deploying the military to assist the police without the approval of the National Assembly as required by the Constitution of Kenya.”

Duale gazetted KDF deployment arguing that it was critical to support police officers who were overpowered by protesters on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) sued CS Duale for gazetting KDF deployment despite the National Assembly hurriedly okaying his orders.
Ruto on the other hand, vowed to clamp down on violent protesters while labelling their actions as treacherous.
His sentiments attracted wide criticism from the political divide with many leaders urging Ruto to embrace dialogue.

Moreover, Azimio demanded the immediate release of all abducted and arrested protesters.
“We demand an end to the Gestapo-like abductions, killing and the immediate release of all abductees. As Azimio we will fight to defend the constitution of Kenya.”
