Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed details of his conversation with Kisumu Governor Anyang Ny’ongo and Siaya Governor James Orengo after Raila Odinga’s passing.

Speaking in Sigomere, Siaya County, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, Kalonzo praised the two leaders for understanding Raila’s vision for the country.

Raila’s legacy

“I met with Anyang’ Nyong’o and (James) Orengo in Kisumu after visiting Bondo to pay my last respects to Raila and reminded them where we came from, along with Baba. I told them to ensure Raila’s legacy is not destroyed by other people,” Kalonzo stated while addressing a rally in Sigomere.

Kalonzo pointed out that there were many politicians used to hang around Raila in order to get to leadership positions.

He singled out Orengo and Nyong’o as leaders who can continue Raila’s legacy, citing their ability to withstand political pressure.

Kalonzo’s remarks come after he similarly described himself as the fitting politician to carry on Raila Odinga’s political legacy and fulfil his Canaan dream.

“You people are at the forefront of defending our democracy, na kwa sababu baba amelala. Mimi ndio Baba mdogo. Watoto walikuwa wanalia, Baba, msilie tena. Nitawashikilia, Ruto hatawaua na Kanaani tunaenda,” he stated.

Strong institutions and parties

Kalonzo reminisced about his struggles with Baba, detailing the fight and sacrifices he made for Raila, including shelving his ambition for the DP position after Raila proposed Martha Karua as his running mate for the 2022 elections.

Meanwhile, speaking during the function at Opoda farm, the renowned attorney praised the current standing of Kalonzo’s Wiper Party, saying that for Kenya to thrive, it needed strong parties like the Wiper and ODM parties that could not be swallowed by the government.

“For a strong Kenya to come, we need a strong Wiper, but we also need a strong ODM not controlled by anybody in power but by the laws of the land. I join Ruth in saying let’s not kill political parties na sisi kama ODM msifanye makosa ya kumezwa. KADU ilimezwa, PNU ikamezwa, DP ikamezwa, na Jubilee karibu imezwe,” Orengo said.
