Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned Daadab Member of Parliament (MP) Farah Maalim over his controversial remarks on President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
In his remarks, Maalim without mincing his words, told off Ruto’s critics calling for his removal from office in the 2027 elections saying he will be re-elected with a landslide.
While reprimanding the critics in a derogatory tone, Maalim emphasized that Ruto was elected by the people and that he will ensure that he secured a second term by delivering 90 per cent of the North Eastern votes.
In his response to the MP, Kalonzo criticised his remarks and termed his actions shameful.
He also noted that he will advise the Wiper legislator to resign from the party.
“I condemn Farah Maalim remarks in the strongest terms possible. Today’s outrageous utterances I will advise him to resign and not wait to be thrown out. His actions were shameful,” Kalonzo said.
Omtatah’s take
Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah also condemned the MP saying his remarks terming them irresponsible and dangerous.
Omtatah went on to state that leaders must promote peace, respect, and unity devoid of inflammatory statements that incite violence.
“Farah Maalim’s recent comments are deeply irresponsible and dangerous. Leaders must promote peace, respect, and unity, not incite violence or division. It’s time for a collective stand against toxic rhetoric and demand leaders who elevate the discourse with integrity, not hate,” Omtatah said.
Maalim has come under sharp criticism from a section of Kenyans and leaders from the political divide over his inflammatory remarks.
