Kalonzo: Nasa document should be basis of Azimio-OKA agreement

By , March 1, 2022

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo on Tuesday maintained that he is ready to work with ODM party leader Raila Odinga for the third time in the coming polls.

While addressing the press at his command center in Karen, Nairobi, Kalonzo said he is open to negotiating with Raila, but a deal they had in 2017 must be put on the table.

According to Kalonzo, the deal he had with Raila in the last election stipulates that Raila should support his presidential bid in the August elections.

In the document he shared with the media, Kalonzo revealed that he had agreed with Raila to support him in the 2017 general elections. In return, the ODM leader was to support him in this year’s election regardless of whether they won the previous elections or not.

He said that the 2017 deal would form the basis of his negotiations with the ODM leader.

“I am ready to work with Raila but under three pillars of a grand-coalition government for the sake of our nation. I urge that as we engage in fresh negotiations, this document (the 2017 deal) forms the basis of such negotiations,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo further revealed that should he get into the negotiation table with Raila, the outcome of their negation will be made public.
