‘Wajackoyah was not Azimio’s project until a few days to manifesto launch’ – Justina Wamae

Former Roots party running mate Justina Wamae has weighed in on political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi’s remarks that Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah’s manifesto was funded by the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition.

Ngunyi had earlier alleged that the Raila Odinga-led coalition funded Wajackoyah’s project and deliberately scheduled Wajackoyah’s manifesto launch at the same time as William Ruto’s to frustrate his presidential bid.

“I got a little bit of it from the friends of Uhuru Kenyatta and we funded Wajackoyah’s launch and the way we did it is that we wanted it to happen on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch. Our thinking is that Ruto is of a choleric temper so I wanted to do this as a way of irritating him so that when you have half screens on the TVs,” he stated during an interview with a local TV station.

But in a subsequent rejoinder, Wamae clarified that Wajackoyah was not Azimio’s project until a few days before the Manifesto launch.

“Let it be known the man was never a project until a few days to Manifesto launch, Team Justina provided the requirements to be cleared by IEBC. He knows in his heart,” she wrote on her official X account.

She also noted that the revelation explained why the Roots party leader resorted to violence and intimidation after the two parted ways. Wamae further alleged that the pushback with her party leader eventually led to assassination attempts.

“This revelation explains why he resulted to violence and intimidation thinking I will ask for the little money he got from the state. Since that day till today I have never spoken to that Rastaman.

“Kenyans, I refused to be used as a puppet and you saw the pushback. I couldn’t do much because I wasn’t the owner of the party. The agony I went through till they attempted to assassinate me,” she added.

I went round the TVs telling people we had a fraud and con and everyone was against me.
