National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung'wah has yet again attacked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of sabotaging President William Ruto.

Speaking on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Gichuru Memorial High School thanksgiving and fundraising event in Gikambura, Kikuyu Constituency, Ichung'wah accused Gachagua of sabotaging Ruto for his own selfish interests.

Attacking Gachagua

The event that aimed at raising funds for the school's infrastructural upgrade served as a platform for attacking DP Gachagua.

"Stop telling people at night that William Ruto is a one-term President, and you will martial your community to undermine, to sabotage the government of President William Ruto so that he fails, that you become the president.

"If you want to become the president of Kenya, work in the position you have been given today, to deliver to the people of Kenya and when your time comes, they will see leadership in you. But if you seek to sabotage the government of Kenya for your own selfish ends, my brother you will go absolutely nowhere," Ichung'wah told DP Gachagua.

Gachagua's one man one shilling push

Ichung'wah who was joined by Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet, Mugirango South MP Sylvanus Osoro among other political leaders drawn from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led in trashing Gachagua's push for the one man, one vote, one shilling revenue sharing formula.

The UDA leaders allied to President Ruto termed Gachagua's push as divisive.

"The unity of a nation is its strength. We are an indivisible bond when we put aside our parochial biases. Our togetherness, notwithstanding our different regions, makes us a nation. We reject being divided along tribal lines by tribal chiefs. We are one nation, one flag, and one people," Ichung'wah shared on his official X account soon after the event.

CS Duale also took to his official X account to state that the event in Kikuyu served as a platform to discuss critical national issues, including the opposition to the, "One man, one shilling" agenda, with leaders advocating for more equitable resource distribution.

Duale further called for national unity, arguing that it is only through unity that President Ruto will be able to achieve the Kenyan Dream.

"This afternoon, I joined Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung'wah and other leaders at a fundraiser for Gichuru Memorial Secondary School in Gikambura, Kikuyu Constituency, aimed at raising funds for the school's infrastructural upgrade.

"During my address, I emphasized the heavy toll tribal divisions have taken on Kenya and called for national unity, stressing that only through unity can President William Ruto achieve the Kenyan Dream. The gathering also served as a platform to discuss critical national issues, including the opposition to the, "One man, one shilling" agenda, with leaders advocating for more equitable resource distribution," Duale said.
