‘Storm Azimio office and take over’ – Lawyer Havi tells Kalonzo
City Lawyer Nelson Havi has advised Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to seize the leadership of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party by force.
Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the lawyer-cum politician told the Azimio co-principal to stop making pronouncements, and instead take over the coalition’s leadership following the exit of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
Raila announced his exit from local politics after President William Ruto officially launched his bid for African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
Havi on Azimio leadership
Havi has, therefore, urged Kalonzo to assemble a force of 3,000 people, which should include 1,000 men and 2,000 women.
After putting the force in place, Havi says Kalonzo should then storm the Azimio offices, take the official podium, fire the coalition staff affiliated to Raila and declare himself the coalition leader.
“Kalonzo Musyoka should know that a coup is not preceded with notice or threats. Let him assemble a force of 1,000 men and 2,000 women, storm Azimio La Umoja offices, take the official podium, fire anyone affiliated to Raila Odinga and declare himself the coalition leader,” Havi stated.

Kalonzo declared Azimio leader
Azimio co-principals on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, said they had settled on Kalonzo as the new coalition leader as Raila potentially transitions to continental leadership.
In a statement issued shortly after the official launch of Raila’s candidature at State House, Nairobi, the leaders led by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa said they have confidence in Kalonzo’s leadership.
“In Azimio, there will be no vacuum. We are several constituent parties of Azimio, and we’ve been very blessed to have very serious leadership in our coalition. As he (Raila) leaves, the next ranking member of the leadership of our coalition is the Hon Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,” Wamalwa said.
Kalonzo in a statement shared via his official X account after the presser, said he was ready to take over as the leader of the official opposition.
“Yes, I am ready to be the Leader of the Official Opposition. This is the TEAM. You will see the opposition like never before. We may be light in numbers in Parliament, but outside, we have the People of Kenya,” Kalonzo stated.
