Governor Wanga under fire as Aroko links county staff to Kasipul violence
By Luke Oluoch, October 10, 2025Kasipul parliamentary aspirant Philip Aroko has linked the rampant violence in Kasipul constituency to Homa Bay County Governor Glady Wanga, days after being cleared by the IBC to contest as an Independent candidate.
Speaking on Friday, October 10, 2025, Aroko put the governor in the spotlight, accusing her staff of orchestrating the violence in the area.
“We have had victims of such acts, and we have realised it is not being done by the late MP, but by the county leadership of Homa Bay under Gladys Wanga. The people leading this nonsense are employees of Wanga,” he stated.

“I want to tell her we do not fear her when it comes to protecting our people. We will not fear her when our people are being intimidated by people employed by the county. They are also intimidating MCA who do not align or support a candidate of their choice,” he stated.
Volatile Kasipul
The businessman also slammed ODM leadership for insinuating that the constituency had already had an MP in relation to the candidature of Boyd Were, the youthful ODM aspirant seeking to succeed his late father.
“I heard them saying Kasipul already has an MP. In a democratic society, you cannot say people have already chosen their leader. The people of Kaispul must choose their leader. They will not come and impose leaders on us,” he added.

While vouching for his candidature, Aroko vowed to restore sanity to the volatile politics that have seen Kasipul a hot-bed of political intolerance and violence.
He stated that his vision was to restore peace and sanity post and past the November 27 polls.
“I want to get rid of the party leadership that has been happening in this constituency where if you don’t support a person, you get maimed, hacked or stabbed. This constituency is a volatile area in politics. It has been marked by violence from previous regimes,” he stated.
“We are asking the government to act and let this by-election be conducted peacefully. Let them be thorough in this one. There is no point in having security sleeping in the barracks while people are being butchered. Let them deploy security here and ensure free and peaceful elections,” he added.
