Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has declared his intention to vie for the county’s Senate seat in the 2027 General Election, seeking the support of residents as he prepares for the next chapter of his political career.

Kajiado’s leadership history

The governor praised Kajiado’s rich history of leadership, noting that the county has consistently produced leaders who have left a mark on the national stage.

Lenku was elected on a Jubilee ticket in 2017 and reelected in the same position on an ODM ticket in 2022.

The governor is now set to face the first Kajiado governor, David Nkedianye, who has also declared interest in the Senate seat on a UDA ticket.

If all factors remain constant, the duo will flex their political muscle for the third time in the forthcoming elections.

Ole Lenku said Kajiado leaders have traditionally played influential roles in national affairs and expressed confidence that the county would continue to enjoy strong representation.
