There’s no serious division between Ruto, Gachagua – Embakasi North MP

By , June 4, 2024

Embakasi North Member of Parliament (MP) James Gakuya has refuted claims that President Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua have a serious division.

Gakuya was responding to questions during a media interview, he said the two leaders have no issue.

Internal affairs in UDA

Gakuya believes there would be no rifts between them as the nature of their relationship is like a bus that’s all going in the same direction.

In his opinion, any differences would be attributed to internal affairs in the party.

“We are still in one bus. There is no serious division between the President and the DP. In case there is any, it is a matter of internal affairs within the party,” Gakuya stated.

Ruto, Rigathi’s differences

In the last few weeks, ideological differences have widened the rift between President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua speculating that the two are at loggerheads.

President Ruto and his deputy developed serious tensions when Ruto countered his deputy’s pessimistic outlook for the future sparked by reports that Gachagua was absent from key state functions.

In a recent event in Nyandarua, DP Gachagua predicted challenging times for Mt. Kenya residents and called for leaders to unite in the face of the challenges.

“I am not too clever and neither am I a fool. There is something I know and when I wake up early and look keenly, I see darkness. I see someone plotting against us and our children being used to divide us,” Gachagua warned.

There has been an emerging rift between President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua which has grown more evident after political leaders from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) started joining in and picking sides.
