Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dispatched a delegation to the United Kingdom ahead of his planned visit to engage Kenyans living in the diaspora as part of his growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Taking to his X account on Thursday, May 7, 2026, Gachagua said the team comprising Nyandarua Senator John Methu, former Kieni MP Kanini Kega and popular benga musician Samidoh had already left for London to coordinate and prepare for his upcoming tour.

“This evening, I have dispatched Senator John Methu, Hon. Kanini Keega and benga maestro Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh to London ahead of my visit. They will prepare and coordinate my visit to the United Kingdom shortly with our diaspora community in London,” Gachagua said.

Importance of the visit

Gachagua said the visit would focus on engaging the Kenyan diaspora community in the United Kingdom and collecting their views on national issues and governance.

He noted that his political outfit, the DCP Party, considers Kenyans abroad key stakeholders in shaping the country’s future and said their opinions would contribute to the party’s policy blueprint ahead of the August 10, 2027 General Election.

“Our party, DCP PARTY, remains firmly committed to engaging the diaspora community as part of the broad stakeholders and Kenyans; their views, as espoused in our philosophy will inform our blueprint ahead of August 10th 2027 General Elections,” Gachagua stated.

2025 diaspora visit

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader’s visit follows his last visit to the United States of America in July-August 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Gachagua posted pictures of himself and his spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, being received at the Kansas City International Airport by a group of Kenyans in the diaspora.

“In our diaspora engagement tour of the USA, we head to Kansas City to a warm welcome by Kenyans living and working in Kansas. Safely arrived at Kansas City International Airport, Missouri. We are looking forward to a great conversation on our nation, Kenya,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua’s extensive tour of the USA began on July 9, 2025, when he made his first international trip out of the country since his impeachment on October 17, 2024.
