Gachagua reveals details of his meeting with Gen Z candidates preparing to vie for MCA positions across Mt Kenya

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday, January 11, 2025, hosted a team of young political candidates preparing to vie for the positions of Member of County Assembly (MCA), across the Mt Kenya region.
Taking to his official X account, the former second in command revealed that he had received a visit from the Executive Committee of the Young Candidates Caucus (YCC) at his rural home in Wamunyoro, Nyeri.
According to Gachagua, YCC is a team of young candidates whom he has termed as Gen Z, who are planning to give a try to the mucky field of politics in the coming 2027 general elections.
“This morning, I received a visit from the Executive Committee of the Young Candidates Caucus (YCC). YCC is a team of young candidates – GenZ – preparing to vie for MCA positions across the region,” Gachagua wrote on his X account.
He went ahead to reveal that the candidates had walked him through the challenges young people face as they aspire for leadership, and the proposals of how leaders can assist them make the process easier.
Gachagua on Gen Z’s suggestions
Gachagua further stated that he had agreed to incorporate their suggestions and some of them into his plans for 2025.
“They walked me through the challenges young people are facing as they aspire for leadership, and the proposals of how we can assist them make this process easier. We agreed to incorporate their suggestions and some of them into our plans for 2025,” Gachagua stated.
Adding: “I congratulated them for stepping out of their comfort zones and wished them all the best. I also quietly challenged them to expand their leadership and ensure they incorporate ladies into the EXeCom. The consultations continue.”

Gachagua’s meetings
Gachagua’s rural home has been busy for the past few days, receiving guests from within and outside Mt Kenya region.
He convened a meeting with a delegation of Elders from Kajiado West at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
In a statement via his official X account, the former DP stated that the delegation had accompanied Engineer Dickson Ntikoisa and discussed the close ties between the Maa and Mount Kenya communities.
The second deputy president on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, also hosted the Kikuyu Council of Elders Kiama Kia ma.
“Yesterday, I had an opportunity to continue consulting and listening when I met a delegation from ‘Kîama Kîa Ma’.
“These Senior Elders, mainly County Chairs and County Patrons drawn from various counties shared with me their ideas of what they think are the priorities for the year 2025, and the options they see facing our community, especially as regards political direction and social integration,” Gachagua disclosed.
