A section of leaders allied to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have told off President William Ruto over his relentless calls to stop 2027 politics.

Speaking to traders in Marikiti Market in Nairobi on Friday, September 20, 2024, the leaders led by Embakasi North Member of Parliament (MP) James Gakuya, criticized Ruto accusing him of double-speak.

He particularly stated that the president should lead by example by ending the political discourse before asking other leaders to quit talks on the matter. The MP also expressed his dissapointment in the president’s administration and his involvement in Mount Kenya politics.

Gakuya additionally took a swipe at the president over the DP’s wrangles faulting him for the disrespect his deputy encounters in the hands of his allies (Ruto).

He singled out Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah saying the president has often failed to criticise the lawmaker whenever he disrespects his deputy in public.

“Kimani Ichung’wah anatukana naibu wa rais akisimama na rais mwenyewe na haezi mwambia hio tabia ni mbaya,” he said.

The most recent occurred a few days after more than 2,000 Njuri Ncheke elders supported Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki, thus undermining DP Gachagua’s persistent campaign to garner support from the area.

Following their announcement, the leaders declared that CS Kindiki had passed the Njuri Ncheke leadership test.

“We the Njuri Ncheke elders from the counties of Meru and Tharaka Nithi have gathered here in Njiru to say that Kithure Kindiki who has a cordial working relationship with our President William Ruto is our favourite,” Njuri Ncheke chairman Adriano Aruyaru stated.

“Today Njuri Ncheke in their numbers have endorsed him as our kingpin and spokesman. He will be our link as Mt Kenya East to President William Ruto.”
