Ex-Ruto ally Joash Maangi holds meeting with Raila days after ditching UDA

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has today held a meeting with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga days after decamping from Deputy President William Ruto’s Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Siaya Deputy Governor James Okumbe and Raila’s brother Oburu Odinga.

“I had a breakfast meeting with my Party Leader Raila Odinga at his Riat Home in Kisumu County this morning. Present were Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o of Kisumu County, Deputy Governor James Okumbe of Siaya County and Hon. Oburu Odinga,” Maangi said.

Maangi has openly expressed his interest in succeeding Governor James Ongwae in the upcoming 2022 polls.
