Former Kiambu Speaker Gathii Irungu has been appointed as Secretary-General of Tujibebe Wakenya Party whose leader is former Kiambu governor William Kabogo.
The news about the appointment comes a week after Amani National Congress (ANC) party appointed lawyer Simon Kamau as its new Secretary-General to fill the position that was left vacant since August 2020 when Barrack Muluka resigned.
Gikuru was named the new SG on Thursday in a ceremony presided over by the Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Irungu Gathii said that he has been acting as secretary-general from the day the party was issued by interim certificate adding that Kabogo is the party leader while Enoch Monari will serve as chairperson of the party.
“I’m the Secretary General of Tujibebe Wakenya Party and Kabogo is our party leader,” he said.
He said the party is in the process of opening offices across the country while continuing with the members’ recruitment drive.
He said that Tujibebe Wakenya Party is committed to ensuring that they adhere to the rules issued by the registrar of parties.
“We are ready for the 2022 general election and we are sure that our party will form the next government,” he said.
He said that, for the party to be fully registered, they are expected to recruit at least 1,000 members in at least 24 counties and open offices that are fully operational.
Kabogo has announced he will vie for the presidency using the party in the 2022 general elections.
Immediately the party was issued by interim certificate, Kabogo posted the officials of the party holding the certificate and Irungu Gathii was among them.
