Emurua Dikirr UDA MP contestant David Keter warns against do-or-die politics

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominee for the upcoming Emurua Dikirr by-election, David Keter, popularly known as Dollarline, has called for calm, unity, and political tolerance as campaigns begin in the constituency.

Speaking during pre-campaign prayers held in Emurua Dikirr on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Keter urged residents and supporters to reject divisive politics and instead focus on peaceful engagement ahead of the highly anticipated by-election.

The aspirant addressed concerns over rising political tension during campaign periods, appealing to residents to remain united and avoid being drawn into unnecessary conflict as political activities intensify across the constituency.

“I urge the people of Emurua Dikirr to embrace unity and political tolerance as we begin this campaign period. Let us come together because we share a common goal,” Keter stated.

Keter further assured voters that his leadership would be inclusive and focused on serving all residents equally, regardless of their political affiliations or personal differences within the community.

“I am committed to serving everyone equally and ensuring that peace prevails across Emurua Dikirr. Politics should never be a matter of life and death; there is always tomorrow,” the statement reads.

He also used the opportunity to rally support for his bid, calling on the electorate to work together with him as he seeks to lead the constituency through what he described as a new chapter of unity and development.

“As I launch this campaign, I call on all of you to join hands with me so that we can move forward together,” he stated.

Emurua Dikirr by-election dates

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that by-elections will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, to fill three vacant seats in Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County, Porro Ward in Samburu West Constituency, and Endo Ward in Marakwet East Constituency, Elgeyo/Marakwet County.

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat became vacant on March 10, 2026, following the death of area MP Johana Kipyegon Ng’eno in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026, in Chepkiep area of Mosop Constituency, Nandi County. He died alongside five others.

Preparations and electoral guidelines

The commission has suspended voter registration and voter register revision in Emurua Dikirr until June 12, 2026. Returning Officers and Deputy Returning Officers have already been appointed to oversee the by-election.

The Emurua Dikirr by-election alone is projected to cost about Ksh59 million as part of the commission’s electoral operations budget.

Early indications show growing interest in the Emurua Dikirr contest, with political actors preparing for party nominations ahead of the polls.
