Ekuru Aukot calls for immediate govt shake-up over leadership failures
By Kiprono Keileb, August 25, 2025Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has called for urgent reforms in the national government, describing the current administration as marred by mismanagement and leadership failures.
Speaking during a political talk show aired by a local television station on Monday, August 25, 2025, Aukot questioned government spending and highlighted the struggles Kenyans continue to face.
“When the President said he gave the Ksh10 million, what was it for and where did the money come from?” Aukot asked, raising concerns over transparency and accountability in public funds.
He said that ordinary citizens are growing increasingly frustrated with a government that has, in his view, failed to meet their needs.
Aukot did not hold back in his critique of the Cabinet, pointing to underperforming ministers and what he described as a general collapse in governance.
“Kenyans are dissatisfied with this government and it must go immediately. There is a clear failure of leadership. Ministers who are not performing should be fired and replaced or even the entire government should resign,” he said.
He argued that citizens continue to suffer due to persistent poverty, limited access to education, and inadequate healthcare services. According to Aukot, the government has neglected these basic obligations, leaving the population exposed to social and economic hardships.
“Kenyans are still struggling with poverty, ignorance and diseases. We have never achieved this because of bad governance,” he stated.

Criticism of presidential actions
Aukot also took aim at President William Ruto’s recent actions concerning oversight bodies and task forces.
He questioned the rationale behind forming new committees while allegedly ignoring the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the very institution meant to safeguard public resources.
“President ignores EACC and forms task force for what purpose?” Aukot asked, highlighting a perceived lack of focus on accountability and anti-corruption measures.
The Thirdway Alliance leader’s statements come at a time when public debate over governance, corruption, and economic challenges is intensifying. Analysts say that such outspoken criticism reflects growing frustration among citizens and opposition figures alike, and it underscores the demand for transparency and decisive action by leadership.

Aukot concluded by urging the government to prioritise the welfare of citizens and to act decisively in addressing systemic failures. He emphasised that without meaningful reform, public trust in leadership will continue to erode, further destabilising the political and economic landscape.
“Kenyans deserve leadership that works for them, not one that prioritises political theatrics over real solutions,” he said, sending a clear message that accountability and reform cannot be delayed.
